A off duty Policeman was shot dead on Beechwood Avenue in St Andrew late Friday night. The deceased cop has been identified as Corporal Christopher Smith, who was assigned to the Kingston Western police division. It’s reported that about 11pm, Smith drove his motor vehicle to the Texaco gas station on Beechwood Avenue, where there was an active armed robbery. After Smith parked his vehicle, one of the gunmen pounced upon the unsuspecting cop, shot him multiple times and relieved him of his firearm. Smith was taken to a medical facility where was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Two students, a boy and a girl, of Lennon High School in Clarendon were this morning killed in a two-vehicle crash and others rushed to hospital. It’s reported that the taxi man was fleeing from Transport Authority. The collision occurred along the Bustamante Highway around 8:30 in the York Town area and involved a Toyota Probox taxi and a Subaru motor car. According to the police, preliminary information is that both vehicles were travelling in opposition direction and that the taxi allegedly failed to keep left, causing the collision. The town centre of Spanish Town, St Catherine, was the scene of a brazen daylight shooting on Sunday that resulted in the death of a man. Police have so far identified the man by his alias ‘Rampus. He is believed to be a labourer of a March Pen Road, Spanish Town, address. The police say about 10:30 a.m. Rampus was on Burke Road when he was pounced upon by two men armed with handguns. It’s reported that a man was chopped to death by his best friend in a dispute over a lighter at an undisclosed location in Jamaica. According to unconfirmed reports, the man and his friend were arguing over a lighter when his friend suddenly chopped him several times in the upper body. A man died from bullet wounds he sustained during a gun attack near the Transport Centre in Half Way Tree, St. Andrew, on Tuesday. The man was loading vehicles at the intersection of North Odean Avenue and Constant Spring Road, sometime before 6 p.m., when he was approached by a man who shot him. The Kingston Western police are probing the fatal stabbing of an 11-year-old boy on Tuesday evening in downtown Kingston. Reports reaching us are that sometime after 3:20 p.m. a female student used a tail comb to inflict a serious wound to Omar’s chest during a dispute. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The deceased has been identified as Amari Collie. The girl, who attends the Holy Trinity high school, is reportedly in custody. Two policemen have been charged with murder among other offences in the fatal shooting of three men in east Kingston last Sunday after they got caught on a CCTV camera in the area. A man believed to be a parent was shot dead outside the gate of the Rousseau Primary School in St Andrew on Friday morning sometime between 8:30 am and 9:00 am. The man had just arrived at the school to drop off at least three children, who all witnessed the murder. The children were said to have hurried out of the motor vehicle which brought them to school and ran in different directions during the gun attack.
