A cloud of sadness has settled over St Mary after the fatal shooting of a man widely known in the parish for operating a taxi and hosting parties on Monday night.
Dead is 32-year-old Kemoy Findlay, also known as “Turbo” or “Walking Bank,” of Highgate, St Mary. His body, bearing gunshot wounds, was discovered along the Rosend main road. Investigators believe he was killed by individuals posing as passengers, who reportedly stole his vehicle. The car was later recovered abandoned along the Annotto Bay main road in the parish.
Reports indicate that about 9:30 p.m., a resident alerted the police to the body of a man lying on the roadway. Officers responded and found Findlay face down with what appeared to be gunshot injuries. He was taken to Annotto Bay Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Since news of his death broke, social media has been flooded with tributes, shock, and anger from community members and friends. Findlay was well known for providing charter services, and some residents have expressed concern about how they will manage transportation, particularly those working night shifts.
Police are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact the Port Maria Criminal Investigation Branch at 876-994-4222, 876-333-9530, or Crime Stop at 311.
