A police constable attached to the Transport Department in the Clarendon Police Division was found dead inside the May Pen Police Station on Monday evening.
The deceased man has been identified as Constable Kenroy Pitters, a native of Mile Gully, Manchester, who is believed to have been in his early 30s.
According to preliminary reports, shortly before 6:00 p.m., officers became concerned after they were unable to locate the constable. Their concerns prompted them to force open the door to an office in the station, where they discovered him with a wound to his neck.
Investigators remained at the scene into the night, with police personnel processing the area at the rear of the May Pen Police Station, which also serves as the headquarters for the Clarendon Police Division.
Sources indicated that Constable Pitters had previously been reassigned from frontline policing duties to the Transport Department following concerns regarding his mental well being.
The circumstances surrounding his death are now the subject of an ongoing police death investigation.
