It’s reported that a 20-year-old man known as ‘Lala’ was washed away by floodwaters during Hurricane Beryl this afternoon in a gully in the community of Havanna, Arnett Gardens, St Andrew.
According to reports reaching us the 20-year-old man and others were playing football during the Hurricane, when the ball fell inside the gully.
He jumped inside the gully in an attempt to fetch the ball and got washed away.
Divers from the Rema community jumped inside the gully to rescue him but failed in doing so.
A search is now under way by members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the Jamaica Defence Force to locate him.
Jamaica is currently being impacted by category four (4) Hurricane Beryl, which has brought heavy rains and strong winds.
