A Jamaica College student has been hospitalised following a reported stabbing during a fight involving several students near the Half-Way Tree Transport Centre in St Andrew on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m., when a confrontation involving students from several prominent high schools in the Corporate Area reportedly escalated into a physical altercation.
During the incident, the Jamaica College student was allegedly stabbed and sustained injuries that required urgent medical attention.
He was subsequently rushed to hospital, where sources say he underwent emergency surgery. His condition is said to be serious.
POLICE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
At least one person believed to have been involved in the incident has been taken into police custody as investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
Police are also seeking to locate other students who were allegedly involved and fled the area following the incident.
The circumstances that led to the confrontation, including what triggered the altercation and the identity of the person who allegedly inflicted the stabbing injury, remain under investigation.
Authorities are expected to provide additional information as the investigation progresses.
