Popular Dancehall Artiste ‘Jamal’ was arrested by security forces early this morning.
According to a reliable source, the entertainer whose real name is Tyvel Dixon, otherwise called ‘Jamal’, was taken into police custody for questioning in relation to gang activities.
The entertainer was arrested by officer from the Specialised Operation after he performed at Mecca nightclub on Constant Spring Road, last night.
Eleven other individuals who were with him, were also detained.
According to police reports, Mr. Dixon is the leader of the ‘Dunce Gang’ in Barrett Town, St James and is a person of interest in three murders but is not considered a suspect at the moment.
He will be questioned by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch and Specialised Operations regarding his alleged involvement in a criminal organised crime.
Two phones that was in his possession were confiscated. He is expected to remain in police custody while the investigation continues.
The police say at least four of the men who were with him, are suspected to be members of the ‘Dunce Gang’.
The breakthrough artiste is popularly for his hit singles like, ‘Ballandor’ and his most recent ‘Time’.
