Female students at Mico University College have reportedly raised serious concerns about their safety after a disturbing video allegedly captured a taxi operator engaging in an indecent act near the institution.
The taxi operator was seen parked along a roadway near one of the university’s gates, in a position where he could be seen clearly by female students staying in a nearby dormitory.
The man allegedly began exposing himself and engaging in inappropriate behaviour while looking toward the students. He was also seen pointing in the direction of some of the females.
Several students became alarmed by what they were witnessing and began recording the incident from their dormitory window. The footage was later circulated among students and has reportedly generated widespread concern.
IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME
While one student reportedly expressed shock at witnessing the behaviour, another claimed that the incident was not unusual.
One female student was heard saying that it was the first time she had seen something like that. Another student responded that the man had allegedly behaved similarly on previous occasions.
The student claimed she had multiple videos showing the same individual engaging in inappropriate behaviour. Her comments have intensified concerns that the incident may not have been isolated.
APPEAL FOR POLICE INVESTIGATING
Following the circulation of the footage, students are appealing to members of the public and law enforcement to help identify the taxi operator.
The vehicle allegedly seen in the footage is said to have the licence plate PQ6499.
Students are urging anyone who recognizes the vehicle or knows the identity of the driver, to provide the information to the police.
They are also warning members of the public against confronting the man themselves, urging that any information instead should be passed directly to law enforcement.
CONCERNS ABOUT FEMALE PASSENGERS AND KIDS
The incident has raised additional concerns because the individual is a taxi operator who may regularly transport members of the public.
Some students have questioned whether female passengers could unknowingly enter the vehicle with a driver accused of behaving inappropriately around women. There are also concerns about children who may use taxis in the area.
Students say the allegations have made them particularly uncomfortable about seeing the vehicle operating around the institution.
Students are calling for the matter to be investigated urgently. For now, students are urging anyone with credible information to contact the police and allow investigators to handle the matter.
