What was supposed to be a romantic honeymoon getaway turned into a shocking and disturbing incident after a man allegedly attempted to drown his pregnant wife in a hotel swimming pool after discovering she had cheated on him.
According to reports, the couple had recently gotten married and were celebrating their honeymoon at a luxury hotel resort when the situation spiraled out of control late Sunday evening.
Guests at the hotel said the couple had been spending time near the pool when an argument suddenly broke out between them. Witnesses reported hearing the man accusing his wife of being unfaithful and questioning whether the baby she was carrying was his.
The heated exchange quickly escalated and the man suddenly grabbed his wife, dragged her inside the pool and forced her underwater while shouting at her. People nearby initially thought the couple was playfully splashing around, but within seconds it became clear something was terribly wrong.
The woman, who is believed to be several months pregnant, was left shaken and struggling to breathe but did not appear to suffer serious physical injuries. Emergency responders were called to the hotel and she was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution for both her and the unborn baby.
The husband was reportedly restrained by security until police arrived. Witnesses say he appeared extremely emotional and repeatedly shouted that he had just discovered messages on her phone confirming she had been involved with another man before their wedding.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident. The man is expected to face serious charges related to attempted assault.
