A woman was shot and killed at the entrance of the New Testament Church of God on Water Lane in Montego Bay, St James, on Wednesday afternoon, during a fasting service taking place inside the building.
The shooting occurred around 2:15 p.m.
According to eyewitnesses, a man arrived in a small van, stepped out, and opened fire hitting the woman multiple times. She reportedly collapsed just inside the church entrance.
Residents rushed her to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Community members say the woman was well known in the area for selling books outside the church.
