A 32-year-old man was shot and killed by gunmen on Saturday night in front of his six-year-old son and another relative along Green Street near Knockpatrick in Manchester, Jamaica.
The deceased has been identified by relatives as Cruise Smith, otherwise called “Killa”.
Preliminary reports indicate that about 7:45 p.m., Smith had just entered a motorcar with his young son and another relative when armed men approached and opened fire. Smith was reportedly hit multiple times. A relative transported him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His six-year-old son was not injured during the attack.
The killing occurred near a bar in the area where Kevin Brown, otherwise known as “Cheese,” was fatally shot on September 9, 2024.
The incident comes just days after police intensified social intervention efforts in the community, including staging a football competition last Sunday aimed at engaging residents of Green Street and neighbouring areas. Investigations into Saturday night’s shooting are ongoing.
