A woman is now in police custody following a horrific acid attack that claimed the life of her partner and left his teenage son hospitalized with serious injuries.
The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Christopher Clarke, a sales representative. His 13-year-old son is being treated for burns to his face, left eye, and chest.
Police reports indicate that on Tuesday, June 10, Clarke and his son were at their home on Verbena Avenue, off Waltham Park Road, when the woman allegedly entered the house, took a bottle containing a corrosive substance, and poured it on both victims. It is believed the attack followed a dispute between Clarke and the woman earlier that day.
A neighbour rushed the injured father and son to Kingston Public Hospital, where they were admitted and treated for severe burns. Sadly, Clarke succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Superintendent Mark Harris, head of the St Andrew Central Police Division, confirmed that the woman remains in custody but has not yet been formally charged.
He noted that a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm is expected, pending the results of an autopsy to determine if further charges will be laid.
