A woman who was severely burned during a confrontation at a gas station in Whithorn, Westmoreland, has succumbed to her injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Dacia Forrester, who died on Thursday night while receiving treatment in hospital.
Forrester had been hospitalized since February 19 after suffering third degree burns to approximately 70 percent of her body during the incident.
Reports indicate that Forrester and her sister had gone to a service station where they confronted a female pump attendant. During the dispute, it is alleged that a flammable substance was thrown on Forrester, who was subsequently set ablaze.
Bystanders at the location reportedly acted quickly to extinguish the flames before rushing her to hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Following the incident, 30-year-old Collate Swaby, a pump attendant from Old Road in Whithorn, was arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
In the aftermath of the incident, relatives of Forrester expressed concern about public reaction to the case, stating that they believe she has been unfairly judged and criticized by members of the public.
