Four people, including three children, lost their lives in a tragic two-vehicle crash on the Crawford to Font Hill main road near the St Elizabeth/Westmoreland border on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Jeneen Dawkins, 10-year-old Antwasia Ledgister, a 17-year-old known only as Ashley, and a 12-year-old whose name has not yet been released.
According to police reports, the collision occurred around 5:27 p.m. Dawkins was driving a 2011 black Toyota Voxy with the three children as passengers when the vehicle collided with a 2013 white Freightliner M2 160 motor truck being driven by a Canadian utility worker.
Investigations revealed that both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the Toyota Voxy, reportedly travelling at a high rate of speed, failed to keep to the left and entered the path of the oncoming truck, resulting in the fatal impact.
The woman and the three injured girls were later extricated from the severely damaged vehicle and transported to hospital, where they were all pronounced dead.
