A dispute over a passenger turned deadly on Thursday when a taxi operator was allegedly stabbed to death by a co-worker in the rural community of Kellits.
Reports from the May Pen Police indicate that the incident occurred at a taxi stand in the town shortly after 2 p.m. It is understood that the two drivers became embroiled in a heated argument over who should transport a waiting passenger. The disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, one of the men allegedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed his colleague multiple times. Bystanders rushed to intervene and transported the wounded driver to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The identity of the deceased man has not yet been released.
Police are urging anyone with information that could assist with the investigation to contact the nearest station as inquiries continue.
