Six people lost their lives and two others were injured in a devastating head-on collision involving a truck and a minivan along the Trelawny section of the North Coast Highway on Friday morning.
The deadly crash reportedly occurred shortly after 8:00 a.m., though the exact circumstances that led to the collision have not yet been determined.
Police officers, firefighters, and other emergency responders rushed to the scene, where rescue and recovery efforts remain underway. Investigators are also working to establish the cause of the fatal crash.
The latest tragedy pushes the number of road fatalities recorded in Trelawny since the beginning of the year to 20. That figure is five higher than the 15 traffic deaths reported during the same period last year.
