Alleged robbers were thwarted by police this afternoon in the gated community of Phoenix Park Village, Phase 3, in Portmore, St. Catherine.
During the incident, one of the men was fatally shot, while his accomplice managed to flee. Authorities reportedly seized a firearm at the scene.
According to reports, the pair had broken into a home and attempted to escape.
As they fled, police intercepted them along Hellshire Drive within the neighborhood. The vehicle they were in crashed, and a shoot out followed. One suspect was shot, the other escaped.
Residents say the once quiet community has recently been beset by a wave of robberies.
