Three women and a man were killed in Crawl, Riversdale in St Catherine early Tuesday morning, the police have confirmed.
It’s reported that a short while ago residents heard several explosions around 2:15 am. The police were called and the victims three women and a man were found with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
They were all killed at the same house, the police say.
The deceased have been identified as Kerrian Higgins McGrath, 45, a farmer from Crawle district; Dorothy Higgins; Dianne Nicola Johnson, 38, a helper from Toms Hope in Fellowship, Portland; and a man known only as Kevin.
A 13-year-old boy and four other children who were also in the house managed to escape from the gunmen, police sald. No motive has yet been established for the attack.
Reports reaching us are that around 2:15 am, three men, all dressed in dark clothing, wearing masks and armed with handguns, gained entry by forcing open a front door and grille.
They entered and began to question the adults. They then opened gunfire on them, killing all four on the spot. The children later escaped and sought help.
The men then made their escape. The police said their mode of transport is unknown.
Police are now on the scene investigating.
