A police sergeant lost his life and three children, including his twin sons, were left hospitalized following a serious two-vehicle collision on the Winston Jones Highway in Mandeville on Sunday afternoon.
While his identity has been confirmed, the police are yet to make an official release.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when the sergeant, who was driving a silver Honda Fit, veered into the path of a truck transporting cattle. The vehicles collided near the entrance of the Jamgas service station.
A security guard at a nearby premises said he assisted two of the injured children immediately after the crash. Police personnel arrived shortly after and escorted a pickup truck carrying the injured officer to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
