A police constable is hospitalized in serious but stable condition following a tragic incident at his home in Richmond, St Mary, on Wednesday night that claimed the life of his spouse.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old D’Johnnay Graham, also known as “Moya,” an infant school teacher.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. after an argument between the couple escalated. The dispute reportedly stemmed from a phone call Graham had received earlier in the evening.
During the altercation, the constable who is attached to the St Andrew North Police Division allegedly used his service firearm to shoot Graham in the head. He then reportedly turned the weapon on himself, inflicting a gunshot wound to his own head.
Graham was pronounced dead at the scene, while the policeman was transported to the Annotto Bay Hospital, where he remains under medical care.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
