A 30-year-old man was shot in the head in Port of Spain at 12:15pm on Thursday.
The incident happened in broad daylight as pedestrians and motorists traversed the capital city.
Video of the aftermath of the shooting has been circulating on social media.
The person behind the recording repeated that the victim sold water to passersby for a living.
He was rolling on the pedestrian crossing on Broadway Street near a jewellery store in the footage.
According to reports, officers of the Port of Spain Task Force responded to a shooting and found Joel Williams bleeding from a wound to the head.
Williams is a resident of St Paul Street, East Dry River, Port of Spain.
Sources say he was approached by a gunman wearing black long pants, a blue WASA jersey and a black fisher bucket hat.
Explosions were then heard. Williams fell to the ground and the suspect ran towards the Sea Lots area.
Meanwhile, police took the vendor to the Port of Spain General Hospital (PoSGH).
He is undergoing medical treatment and is reported to be in a stable condition.
The shooter is still on the run.
