A gunman was killed on Tuesday following a tense, nearly three-hour stand-off with police at an apartment complex along Caledonia Road in Mandeville, Manchester.
Reports indicate that around 10:00 a.m., police were in the area when gunfire erupted. Multiple units, including officers from the Manchester division, Area Three headquarters, and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, were deployed to the scene. This led to a prolonged exchange between the gunman and law enforcement.
The standoff ended shortly after 1:00 p.m., at which point the police confirmed that the suspect had been fatally shot. The deceased man has only been identified as “Brown Man”.
No members of the security forces were injured during the incident.
As police teams began leaving the scene, others gathered nearby for a debriefing. The incident marks the second major event along Caledonia Road that day. Earlier in the morning, a man died following a sequence of events involving gunfire and a two-vehicle collision, which had already prompted a heavy police presence in the area.
