A video circulating on social media has sparked widespread debate after it allegedly showed a raft man engaging in inappropriate conduct with a female tourist during a bamboo rafting excursion in Jamaica.
The footage, which began trending since week, appears to capture a man performing what viewers described as a “sensual massage” on the tourist while the two were aboard a bamboo raft along a popular river attraction.
At one point in the clip, the man was seen touching the woman’s chest area as she laid back on the raft. The clip has since caused outrage from some social media users and concern from tourism stakeholders.
The video has since gone viral across multiple platforms, with many Jamaicans expressing embarrassment and calling for stricter oversight of operators within the rafting sector. Others have questioned whether the interaction was consensual, while emphasizing that such acts, whether agreed upon or not, reflect poorly on the country’s tourism product.
This marks the second time after three years ago a similar video surfaced online involving inappropriate behavior during a bamboo rafting experience. The previous incident also triggered public backlash and renewed scrutiny of tour operators who provide so-called “extra services” beyond traditional river tours.
As debate continues online, many are calling for clearer guidelines, better training, and stricter enforcement to ensure that Jamaica’s tourism offerings remain professional and respectful.
