A 40-year-old maintenance worker was shot and killed on Thursday in an incident along Mountain View Avenue in Kingston.
The deceased has been identified as Robert Williams of Hamstead Road, Kingston 3.
Police report that they responded to the scene shortly after 12:00 p.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that a lone gunman, armed with a handgun and traveling on foot, opened fire.
Williams was reportedly attacked at the gate of Excelsior High. After the shooting, the assailant allegedly escaped in a silver Toyota Axio that was waiting nearby.
The injured man was rushed to Kingston Public Hospital, where he later died while undergoing treatment.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident as they continue efforts to apprehend the suspect.
