The community of Kingston College is in mourning following the tragic death of former student-athlete Kevaughn Goldson.
Goldson, who proudly represented the North Street based institution in both track and football, reportedly died during a domestic incident in the United States on Monday.
According to police reports from Jefferson City, Missouri, the incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday morning after officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered the 23-year-old Lincoln University track and field athlete suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest and back. He was rushed to University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing surgery.
A 27-year-old woman, identified as Denita Atiyah Jackson, has since been charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the fatal stabbing. Investigators say Jackson told police that she and Goldson were involved in a turbulent relationship and that the stabbing occurred during a confrontation.
She was taken into custody hours after the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
At the time of his death, Goldson was a student-athlete at Lincoln University of Missouri, where he represented the institution in track and field. His passing has left both his Jamaican and university communities grieving the loss of a promising young talent.
