Five suspected robbers were killed during an alleged confrontation with members of the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force in Negril Square, Westmoreland, on Friday morning.
Reports are that hat between 6 am and 10 am, the police, acting on intelligence, intercepted multiple vehicles, resulting in a shootout.
No officers were injured in the melee, the police said. According to reports, six firearms were also recovered following the alleged altercation.
The operation continues as local investigators and Marine Police search for additional evidence.
