A 22-year-old man is in police custody after the tragic stabbing deaths of two young children in Swamp, Moneague, St Ann one of whom was his biological son.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force confirmed the incident, which unfolded on Tuesday night around 8:00 p.m. Acting Senior Superintendent of Police Rohan Elliott, head of the St Ann Division, said the suspect allegedly drank a cup of ganja tea before the attack.
“He consumed some ganja tea and started acting hysterical and aggressive,” Elliott reported.
According to police, the man was at home with his partner and the two children, ages one and three, when the ordeal began. Alarmed by his behavior, the children’s mother fled the house and made a report at the Moneague Police Station.
Responding officers went to the residence where they encountered the suspect. However, the children were not inside. The following morning, both toddlers were discovered in nearby bushes, with investigators later finding bloodstains in one of the rooms of the home.
The man was taken into custody shortly after and remains under interrogation. Police confirmed that the one-year-old victim was his son, while the three-year-old was his stepchild.
