A disagreement over noise during a World Cup football match reportedly turned deadly in Ewarton, St Catherine, on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Lamar Mullings, an unemployed resident of Bowie Road in the parish.
According to reports, about 8:00 p.m., a football match was being watched on television when Mullings, who was in bed at the time, allegedly requested that the volume be lowered.
It is alleged that a 25-year-old man, said to be Mullings’ uncle, refused, which led to a heated argument between the two. Police report that the dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which Mullings was allegedly stabbed in the chest.
He was later taken to the Linstead Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect has since been taken into custody by the Ewarton police and is being investigated on suspicion of murder.
