Police in St Mary Parish are probing a fatal incident that occurred in Belfield Works on Friday morning.
According to reports, an argument between two individuals escalated into a physical altercation, leaving one male seriously injured. He was transported to hospital by a passing motorist, but was later pronounced dead.
The identity of the deceased man has not yet been confirmed. However, sources indicate that he is a young man who recently graduated from high school.
A teenage boy has since been taken into police custody in connection with the incident. He has been identified only by the alias “Shatta” and is said to be 15 years old. Investigators have also recovered a weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force is urging anyone with information to contact the Port Maria CIB or Crime Stop at 311 as investigations remain ongoing.
