A school girl was among five people injured in a multi-vehicle collision along the Winston Jones Highway in Manchester on Wednesday morning.
According to the police, the student attends McIntosh Memorial Primary School. Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 8:00 a.m., traffic was moving slowly downhill due to a broken down vehicle along the roadway.
Investigators said the driver of a pickup truck attempted to overtake a line of vehicles and slammed into the rear of a Toyota Hiace bus. The force of the impact caused the bus to crash into a Honda Fit, which then collided with a Toyota Vitz. The pickup truck reportedly overturned following the chain reaction.
All injured occupants were assisted from the vehicles and taken to nearby medical facilities for assessment and treatment. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
