Four men were fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with police in Linstead, St Catherine, late Wednesday night.
Reports indicate that the men were believed to be connected to an earlier shooting in Guys Hill, St Catherine, which left one person dead and another injured. Law enforcement sources say the suspects were intercepted by police along the Linstead bypass as they attempted to flee the scene of the initial attack.
According to police reports, the men allegedly opened fire on the officers, prompting a shootout in which all four were killed.
THE BUSINESSMAN WHO WAS FATALLY SHOT IN GUYS HILL
Police have identified the businessman who was shot and killed by gunmen in Guy’s Hill, St Catherine, on Wednesday night. He has been named as Horace “Goudie” Crossman, of Benbow District, Middlesex, St Catherine.
According to reports, around 7 p.m., a man was walking along the Middlesex main road in Guy’s Hill when he was attacked and beaten by two armed men. The gunmen then went to a shop operated by Crossman and demanded service, but he was not inside at the time.
The men reportedly went to a nearby shed, where they found Crossman and opened fire, hitting him. They then escaped the scene in a KIA motor car.
Police were called to the location, where Crossman was found lying in a pool of blood in front of his shop with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the left side of his neck. He was taken to the Linstead Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
