Tragedy struck on Monday afternoon along the May Pen to Williamsfield section of Highway 2000 in Clarendon, where a three-year-old girl and a 29-year-old man are feared dead following a serious motor vehicle crash.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 2:05 p.m. The man, the child, and a woman were traveling in a BMW along the eastbound lane of the highway when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and crashed into a cow pasture.
The impact of the crash reportedly caused the man and the child to be thrown from the vehicle. The woman, who remained in the car, sustained injuries and has since been admitted to hospital.
This incident comes amid rising concerns about road safety. Police statistics indicate that, as of 6:00 a.m. Monday, 215 people have lost their lives on Jamaica’s roads so far this year a slight increase from the 211 fatalities recorded during the same period in 2024.
