A horrific case of domestic violence unfolded on Friday night at Stable Park in Cane River, Bull Bay, St Andrew, where a 50-year-old man allegedly chopped his 25-year-old partner to death before taking his own life.
The incident has left the community in shock and four young children without parents.
The deceased have been identified as Kadane Blackstock, a cashier, and Rohan Edwards. Both lived in the area and reportedly had a tumultuous relationship marked by repeated arguments and violent confrontations.
According to police reports, the tragedy occurred around 11:30 p.m. after residents heard screams coming from the couple’s home and contacted authorities. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the four children inside the house.
Blackstock’s body was found in a pool of blood at the rear of the property, bearing a deep wound to her neck. A further search of the premises led officers to Edwards’ body, found hanging from a tree on his knees with a blue rope tied around his neck.
Both were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Investigators revealed that the couple’s history of domestic abuse had been previously reported to the Bull Bay Police Station. It was confirmed that following a heated altercation on Thursday, police had assisted Blackstock in relocating from the home for her safety.
Tragically, she returned the following day to care for her children. It was during this visit that another argument reportedly erupted, ending in her brutal killing and Edwards’ subsequent suicide.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the matter, while relatives and neighbors mourn the devastating loss and rally to support the children left behind.
