The son of dancehall artiste Mavado, Dante Brooks, has been release after the Court Of Appeal overturned his conviction on Friday, for the 2018 murder of Lorenzo Thomas.
His co-accused, Andre Hines, has was also release.
Both men were given life sentences on 2021.
“We respect the judicial process at all levels and are pleased that the Court Of Appeal has ruled in our favor. This decision reaffirms the merits of our case and underscores the important legal principles at stake, one of the attorneys-at-law Tamika Harris, who represented Brooks during the trial said”.
In 2021 he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2018 killing of Lorenzo Thomas in Cassava Piece, St Andrew. Brooks was ordered to serve 22 years behind bars before being eligible for parole.
Thomas was shot dead, beheaded and his body set ablaze.
