Two students, a boy and a girl, of Lennon High School in Clarendon were this morning killed in a two-vehicle crash and others rushed to hospital.
It’s reported that the taxi man was fleeing from Transport Authority.
The collision occurred along the Bustamante Highway around 8:30 in the York Town area and involved a Toyota Probox taxi and a Subaru motor car.
According to the police, preliminary information is that both vehicles were travelling in opposition direction and that the taxi allegedly failed to keep left, causing the collision.
The police say seven persons, including the students, sustained injuries.
They were taken to hospital where the two students succumbed.
The 34 year old driver of the Subaru motor car involved in the fatal crash is now in the custody of the police.
He was nabbed just over an hour ago at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston. It’s understood he was attempting to flee the island.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
