Police are probing the tragic death of a five-year-old girl who is believed to have drowned at her home in Rocky Point, Clarendon, on Sunday.
The child has been identified as Rackeema Williams.
Reports indicate that the young girl may have accidentally fallen into an uncovered pit on the property.
It is understood that her mother became concerned after being unable to find her inside the house and began searching the yard. During the search, she reportedly noticed that a stone normally placed over a manhole cover had been moved.
Upon checking the area, the mother allegedly discovered her daughter inside the pit. The child was pulled from the water and rushed to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
